Monkeys are in no way domesticated, and it should be remembered that although they may be exotic and can be tamed, they are still wild animals (mammals). If upon the first exposure to a human they have a bad experience, they will take particular care to avoid them from then on. But forced into captivity, they will do best to be put in confinement with others, a single male with a few females offering a suitable ratio of sexes. Found in the wild as large groups, the exotic creatures typically tend to divide to smaller subgroups of 3 or 4, with their own territory that is daily patrolled.



This reminds one of their social needs not to be kept alone or in isolation. They are much like domesticated dogs in this respect. Although not exotic, a dog that is kept isolated becomes lonely and depressed, longing for its master's company. Just as a dog needs his master's expression of commitment and love, so do monkeys that are for sale need the company of other sentient beings.



There are many online sites that offer exotic monkeys for sale. Although monkeys are wild, when raised in captivity they are able to form close relationships with humans. Monkeys raised as such from a young age can be trained to assist quadriplegics, and form bond with humans that lasts a long time. If one of these is found for sale, it will not be cheap. But usually these jungle clowns, when raised and sold by mass breeders, are often discarded after new owners become tired of them. Offered for sale, they do not have social the correct social skills and are non-adept at living with other monkeys in a zoo. Besides, zoos are already inundated with offers of unwanted pets that were purchased merely to amuse a child. The best thing to do before purchasing any monkey is to realize that it is unlikely to work out, and to be absolutely sure one is ready to spend a significant part of their life giving attention to a an exotic pet.
